Dr Elaine Lindars is a Certified Occupational Hygienist with the Australian Institute of Occupational Hygienists (AIOH), a Member of the American Conference of Governmental Industrial Hygienists (ACGIH), a Chartered Chemist with the Royal Australian Institute of Chemistry, a Chartered Professional Member of the Safety Institute of Australia and a Registered Safety Professional through the Safety Institute of Australia.
She has a PhD in geochemistry, a postgraduate qualification in industrial hygiene, an honours degree in environmental chemistry and 27 years’ experience in occupational, environmental and analytical chemistry.
She was an atmospheric chemist with the United Kingdom Atomic Energy Authority and AEA Technology, lectured in Environmental Health Management at Curtin University and worked at the ChemCentre WA (State Government laboratory) as a chemist, hygienist and HazMat first responder for Western Australia. Elaine has also been employed by Rio Tinto as the Iron Ore Health and Hygiene Specialist and more recently undertaken hygiene consultancy, where she worked in mining, oil and gas, utilities and defence.
Elaine’s experience is in assessing and managing occupational dust, vapour, gases, noise, thermal stress, vibration, hazardous substances and dangerous goods, water quality, microbial assessments, indoor air quality and remote site issues. She is also experienced in PPE requirements, fitness for work issues, such as fatigue and alcohol and other drugs, illness and injury reporting, health and safety management systems, occupational hazard identification and risk assessment. She has audited extensively at iron ore, alumina, uranium and coal, mines and refineries.
